However, there are important differences in the cohesion, mainly reflecting different degrees of diagenesis or very low grade metamorphism in different settings. The qualities of fit (R2) for the three functions describing the Mohr-Coulomb slopes are as follows: Nankai: 0.9555, Boso: 0.9885, Shimanto: 0.9731. See text for discussion.
