All experiments were run at a constant axial velocity of approximately 40 μm/s. (B) Plot of the coefficient of friction (μ) as a function of confining pressure (P c ). The values for the coefficient of friction displayed on this plot correspond to those recorded at the point in the experiments when maximum shear stress was achieved during shearing.
