Residuals of the fit to ASM data with a Sun position dependence of the offsets. Residual differences between ASM data and the magnetic field strength calculated from VFM data for the set of calibration parameters given in Table 1. The model does include a Sun position dependence of the offsets. The red line is the estimated local time for data points selected within 1° of the equator when the satellite is flying North.
