Variation of R max with Δt in the a northern and b southern hemispheres during the early mission phase. The circles represent the individual EPI events marked by different colors for the three pairs. In both hemispheres, a positive Δt means that the spacecraft on the westside observed the plasma density depletions at a more poleward location. The dependence of R max on the longitudinal separation (ΔGlon) is presented in c and d separately for both hemispheres. The gray triangles and vertical lines are the mean values and standard deviation of R max for each bin of longitudinal separation (0.1°)
