Circles show the hypocenters of earthquakes between 14 and 21 of April 2016 (local time), colored by event depth. Filled stars denote the three major events in this sequence. Gray and black beach balls for these three events show the results obtained using first-motion focal mechanism and the CMT solution by the Global CMT project (Dziewonski et al. 1981, Ekström et al. 2012), respectively. Brown lines denote surface traces of active faults (Nakata and Imaizumi 2002). FFS and HFS mark the Futagawa and Hinagu fault systems, respectively. b Time history of the earthquake sequence.
