Selected images at 1.74, 2.26 and 2.32 µm taken from the IR2 camera on the nightside of Venus (except i and l). To bring out the intricate details, the images have been filtered using a combination of unsharp mask and adaptive histogram equalization. Images i and l were taken from the NASA Infrared Telescope Facility (IRTF) on Mauna Kea, Hawaii, as part of the ground-based imaging campaign in support of the Akatsuki mission. Compared to the dayside, features seen in these nightside near-infrared images are very different and show a large variation in patterns
