Observed velocity waveforms at strong-motion stations in the near-source area. The blue and red inverse triangle indicates P- and S-wave onset, respectively. For the KiK-net stations, (D) and (S) denote the downhole and the surface sensor, respectively. The amplitude of the downhole sensor is enlarged by five times in this figure. The locations of these stations are shown in Fig. 1b. The frequency range is 0.05–20 Hz
