A comparison of the Boso SSEs and the results in this study. a The red circles indicate the low-angle thrust-faulting earthquakes associated with PHS. The red and green lines indicate the areas with slip larger than 5 cm for SSEs in 2007 and 2011, respectively (Hirose et al. 2014). The light blue and blue regions show slip areas larger than 1 cm and 5 cm, respectively, for the SSEs in 2014 (Sato et al. 2017). The orange boxes indicate areas where swarms of interplate earthquakes occurred (Hirose et al. 2014). The bold gray and thin black lines indicate the approximate source areas of the Kanto earthquakes (Fig. 1).
