Postseismic surface displacements in the year following the mainshock. a Geodetic horizontal displacements that accumulated between April 2011 and December 2011, i.e., between 21 and 265 days after the Tohoku earthquake (Muto et al. 2019). Subsidence of the forearc is more accentuated in subsequent years (Watanabe et al. 2014). The black profile shows the modeled displacement for the event that occurs after 2656.9 simulated years. The red and blue profiles show the relative contributions of fault slip and viscoelastic deformation.
