Monthly mean temperature (top panels) at the 100-hPa level (16 km height) and monthly mean CAPE (bottom panels) are plotted for 1980–1989 and 1990–2006, respectively, at Kolkata. Linear trends are shown in both parameters (solid straight line). Over a period 1980–1989 and 1990–2006 linear trends are quite significant at the 95% significance level.
