The hypocenters were recorded by the Disaster Prevention Research Institute, Kyoto University, between June 1976 and December 2003 (Shibutani, 2004). Only the epicenters of earthquakes with magnitudes >1.0 are shown. The Ohara, Hijima, Yasutomi, Kuresakatouge, Biwako, Miki, and Kusatani faults make up the Yamasaki fault system. The open star symbol on the Hijima fault indicates the location of the study area.
