Dashed line shows plate boundary. (b) Smoothed faulting mechanisms taking the earthquake focal mechanisms and active structures (Fig. 4(a)) into consideration. Both nodal planes are used as receiver faults for our Coulomb stress calculations. Note that the beach ball spacing in this figure is sparser than the actual grid space of the CSEP Japan for visualization purposes.
