The strike of the cross section is W25S–E25N, an orientation selected to be roughly perpendicular to the strike of the nodal planes of the large events (refer to a moment tensor solution of each event shown using a lower hemisphere projection rotated into the plane of the section). Clear eastward-and westward-dipping alignments of earthquakes are indicated by black arrows.
