Optical sensor images of the study area. (a) A mosaic of two Terra/ASTER scenes obtained on 7 January 2006 (path 172, row 320 and path 169, row 322). (b) A Landsat ETM+ scene captured on 11 January 2000 (path 169, row 117). Using these imaging techniques, the oval and feather-shaped features are only evident under fine weather conditions. The features are appeared in visible to near-infrared color composite images in which the three shortest-wavelength band data are assigned to RGB.
