The algorithm to obtain MT responses using Li et al.’s (2008) method in TM mode. Prior to the present improvement, the auxiliary electric field was calculated using only three nodes within the same element. If we apply Li et al.’s (2008) method, the along-strike magnetic fields at six nodes (i.e., two sets of H ₀ , H₁ and H₂) are utilized. Here, and (s = l, r), denote the along-strike magnetic fields at the open stars, blue and red circles on the left or right side, respectively. , and indicate the auxiliary electric fields at the left and right open stars, and the yellow stars, respectively.
