Eleven inversion-based earthquake slip models with colour-coded final displacement (slip in metres) over the fault. The gridding displays the fault plane discretisation used in the slip inversion. Note the variability in the location and size of the rupture plane (the Pacific coastline of Japan is shown as a reference), and the differences in the location, size, and displacement of the large slip patches.
