Spectral-element mesh model. The size of the region is 466.01 × 548.39 km horizontally and +3.93 to −180.00 km vertically. This model covers most of the land and offshore areas of Taiwan, which is capable of handling large earthquakes from offshore regions like 0420 event. Most of the currently available relevant seismological and geological information have incorporated in the model, including surface topography, shallow sedimentary (V s 30; Kuo et al., 2012), and large-scale 3D wave-speed heterogeneity information (Huang et al., 2014).
