Horizontal velocity response spectra. The horizontal velocity response spectra for four stations and one notable station (JR Takatori) are shown. The horizontal response spectra were obtained according to the maximum of the vector sum of the two horizontal-component response histories for a specific natural period using the damping factor h = 0.05. The JR Takatori record was observed by the Railway Technical Research Institute (RTRI) (Nakamura et al. 1996)
