In each panel, the center is the north pole and the outer boundary is the line of \(40^{\circ }\) geomagnetic latitude. The unit of the stream function is \(R_I\cdot \mathrm {m}/\mathrm {s},\) where \(R_I\) is the radius of the ionosphere
