Table 1 Mean optical thickness of cloud layers at 920 nm based mainly on Venera entry probe data summarized by James et al. (1997). Upper haze layers based on Pioneer Venus data (Crisp, 1986) are added. The ratios among the particle modes are from Knollenberg and Hunten (1980). The maximum positive and negative deviations are also determined from the same data set; however, those for the upper haze layers are just assumed to be 50%.
