A conceptual model fault for a larger fault model (Model-3), divided into eight areas (a)–(g) and area (s). Areas (d), (e), and (g) are extended from Model-1 and Model-2 (Fig. 4), and area (s) is added to represent the zones with the increased stress due to the M 7-class earthquakes (see Fig. 2). Area (s) has a higher static strength than area (g), because the coseismic and postseismic slip of the M 7-class earthquakes had stopped at area (s).
