Isentropic pressure-temperature paths along which the equilibrium composition of products are calculated (cf., Fig. 5). Entropy of each path is (a) 7 kJ/K/kg, (b) 8 kJ/K/ kg, (c) 9 kJ/K/kg, and (d) 10 kJ/K/kg. The decomposition boundary (D.B.) of pure silica is also shown. Silica decomposes mainly into SiO, O, and O2 in the high-temperature side of the boundary, and silica does not decompose in the low-temperature side of the boundary. Calculated contour lines of the CO2/CO ratio are also shown by solid black lines.
