Comparison between the topography estimated from the TerraSAR-X image (thick curve) and from the airborne SAR observation (dotted curve). The topography based on airborne SAR observations was taken from a figure in Shimono et al. (2011). Both observations were carried out on 1 February 2011. The thin curve represents the pre-eruption topography. The dashed curve represents the topography profile in which the top of the ellipsoid is 20 m higher than best-fit value, corresponding to the topography in which the lava volume is 120% of that in the best-fit topography. (a) and (b) represent profiles of the ellipsoidal height along A–A′ and B–B′ directions. Their locations are indicated in (c).
