Sea-bottom deformation d(x, y) generates an initial tsunami-height distribution, which we refer to herein as the generation process. The tsunami propagates from the initial tsunami-height distribution, which we refer to herein as the propagation process. (b) Tsunami propagation problem. The initial tsunami-height distribution η0(x, y) is given as an initial condition. This setting includes the propagation process, but not the generation process.
