Open access publishing is not without costs. Earth, Planets and Space therefore levies an article-processing charge of £935/$1475/€1200 for each article accepted for publication. We routinely waive charges for authors from low-income countries. For other countries, article-processing charge waivers or discounts are granted on a case-by-case basis to authors with insufficient funds. Authors can request a waiver or discount during the submission process. For further details, see our article-processing charge page.
Earth, Planets and Space is supported by the Society of Geomagnetism and Earth, Planetary and Space Sciences, the Seismological Society of Japan, the Volcanological Society of Japan, the Geodetic Society of Japan, and the Japanese Society for Planetary Sciences.
A discounted APC is available for Members of the Society of Geomagnetism and Earth, Planetary and Space Sciences, the Seismological Society of Japan, the Volcanology Society of Japan, and the Japanese Society for Planetary Sciences. If you are a member, please check the journal website.
If the corresponding author is resident in any country where tax is imposed on goods and services (e.g. Value-Added Tax in European Union countries or Consumption Tax in Japan) then this tax must be added to the article-processing charge at the rate applicable in that country.
For non-members of the Society, some or all of the publication cost may be covered if the corresponding author's institution participates in our open access membership program (more details available on the membership page).
Springer Open provides a free open access funding support service to help authors discover and apply for article processing charge funding.
