Article-processing charges

Open access publishing is not without costs. Earth, Planets and Space therefore levies an article-processing charge of £705/$1105/€900 for each article accepted for publication. We routinely waive charges for authors from low-income countries. For other countries, article-processing charge waivers or discounts are granted on a case-by-case basis to authors with insufficient funds. Authors can request a waiver or discount during the submission process. For further details, see our article-processing charge page.

Earth, Planets and Space is supported by the Society of Geomagnetism and Earth, Planetary and Space Sciences, the Seismological Society of Japan, the Volcanological Society of Japan, the Geodetic Society of Japan, and the Japanese Society for Planetary Sciences.

From 2016, if the author is a society member, the article-processing charge will be €540 for a Full paper/Technical report or €360 for an Express Letter article with the remaining charge covered by the societies. If the corresponding author is not a society member, the article-processing charge will be €900 for a Full paper/Technical report or €540 for an Express Letter article (using the code TC01377566) with the remaining charge covered by the societies.

If the corresponding author is resident in any country where tax is imposed on goods and services (e.g. Value-Added Tax in European Union countries or Consumption Tax in Japan) then this tax must be added to the article-processing charge at the rate applicable in that country.

The journal is partly supported by a Grant-in-Aid for Publication of Scientific Research Results (251001) from Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.

For non-members of the Society, some or all of the publication cost may be covered if the corresponding author's institution participates in our open access membership program (more details available on the membership page).

Springer Open provides a free open access funding support service to help authors discover and apply for article processing charge funding. Visit our OA funding and policy support page to view our list of research funders and institutions that provide funding for APCs, and to learn more about our email support service.
